Hi Adelheid, the best would be to apply it at the bottom back of the head. For example, when laying down, place the device under the top of the neck.

I am supposed to drink 70 oz. of warm water every day and wondered if I warmed up imprinted water, would it change the IC and integrity? If so, is there a recommended method of possibly heating up the water and then imprinting it?

Hi Elizabeth, you need to keep the water cold: to transfer ICs, you should use water that has a temperature below 30C (86F) and above 2C (36F). Thus, you cannot transfer ICs directly into hot beverages or soups.
