Vitamin K is an essential, fat-soluble vitamin necessary for various bodily processes such as blood clotting. There are two main forms of vitamin K: vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) found in plant foods like leafy green vegetables; and vitamin K2 (menaquinone) found in animal products and fermented food. Vitamin K2 may help strengthen bones, improve bone density, prevent heart disease, and enhance dental health.
