Why does my IC Pad 3 continue to light up even after the transmission ends? It never used to do that.

I am having trouble understanding the claim that we can take ICs of substances and get their benefits but not their undesirable side effects. How is the side effect filtered out?ย Is the way the IC works that the "intention" of the pharmaceutical is somehow what comes through but not the "un-intention"?ย And what about substances where the side effect may be what someone is looking for rather than its... And to clarify, I realize now that spironolactone is not currently an offered IC -- however, that was just an example for the general question I am asking. Thank you in advance for any clarity you can provide on understanding how to think about side effects when choosing ICs.
