Spirulina is a blue-green alga that has a wide range of health benefits. It contains nearly all the essential and non-essential amino acids, as well as anti-inflammatory essential fatty acids. Studies have demonstrated that spirulina can help control blood sugar in those with diabetes, and will also lower cholesterol levels. It is an important nutrient for general detoxification, specifically related to detoxification of the herbicide glyphosate. Spirulina can also reduce the toxic effects of some chemotherapies and heavy metals. It has both antiviral and antibacterial properties as well, so is a valuable addition to any general immune fortification program.
