Saffron, also known as kesar, is a spice obtained from the Crocus sativus flower and is considered one of the world’s most expensive spice. Saffron may be used to treat coughs, colds, fevers, sore throats, and loosen phlegm. It may also be used to help with sleep problems (insomnia), cancer, atherosclerosis, heart health, arthritis, vomiting, intestinal gas (flatulence), depression, anxiety, memory and brain function, libido, heartburn, psoriasis, and dry skin. Moreover, women may use saffron to help with menstrual cramps and premenstrual syndrome (PMS); while men may use it to help with premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and infertility.
