Ciclesonide is a steroid medication belonging to the class of corticosteroids. Corticosteroids have been shown to have a wide range of effects on multiple cell types (e.g. mast cells, neutrophils, macrophages, eosinophils, and lymphocytes) and mediators (e.g. histamine, cytokines, and leukotrienes) involved in allergic inflammation. Ciclesonide may be used to treat nasal symptoms (such as congestion, sneezing, itching, and runny nose) caused by seasonal and year-round allergies.
