40 Hz refers to the binaural beat (the difference between the two tones sent to each ear). The small numbers on the player show the actual left/right ear tones — here 75 Hz (left) and 115 Hz (right). Their difference is 115 − 75 = 40 Hz, which is the target gamma beat. For the binaural effect to form properly, please use headphones.

Hi Anton SF — I have a question regarding this 40 Hz audible (and perhaps any other audible that play different frequencies in the left & right ears) — my brain surgery left me completely deaf in my right ear. I’m listening to the beats with bone conduction headphones — would it still benefit me? Thanks!!

Classic binaural beats generally require the brain to receive two slightly different tones - one in each ear. If you're completely deaf in your right ear, bone‑conduction to one side won’t reliably create the 40 Hz “difference” inside the brain, so benefit is uncertain, but it worth to try, especially if you have bone conduction headphones.

Anton SF thanks for taking the time to get back to me and for the thoughtful explanation. Yes, sadly I am completely deaf in my right ear as a result of my acoustic neuroma brain surgery, so I suspected that might affect how binaural beats work.

I'll give it a try with my bone conduction headphones and see how it goes - it's still worth experimenting with.

This limitation mainly applies to classic binaural beats, since they rely on the brain receiving two slightly different tones—one in each ear—to create the perceived frequency.

Most other audibles on Infopathy do not rely on that mechanism, so having single-sided deafness shouldn't prevent you from benefiting from them. You can certainly experiment and see which ones resonate best with you.

Hello Anton, I read somewhere that you can neutralize the radiation from the Bluetooth interface and also from the AirPods, but I don't know exactly how that works. Could you please explain it again? Thank you.

Tanja, yes, you can use EMF-support ICs.

EMF support while using Bluetooth/AirPods:
