bon, pplace the IC Pad directly over or as close as practical to the affected area.

If that is uncomfortable or not convenient, the lower pelvic/sacral area can also be used as an alternative placement.

Mary Ann Hutchings, for headaches, it would be better to start with the red light setting.

Red light is commonly associated with relaxation, circulation, and tissue support, which is why many people choose it first for head, neck, and tension-related discomfort. Infrared is also active and may provide additional support, particularly when muscle tension is involved.
