Thyroid hormones do far more than regulate metabolism. Despite normalized TSH, thyroid hormones guide neural progression, reveal subtle imbalances that can derail neurogenesis, myelination, and neuroplasticity. They act as the master conductor of brain health. Yet critical gaps persist when standard Levothyroxine therapy normalizes peripheral markers but often fails to restore uniform central/cortical/hippocampal T3 signaling.

Large-scale case-control study found that among people age 65 years or older, those were the history of hypothyroidism were associated with an 81% increased risk of having dementia and among those, there was a more than 3-fold increased dementia risk with thyroid conditions that required thyroid hormone replacement treatment.

In my upcoming paper, I examine this topic through a deeper and more comprehensive lens, thoroughly addressing the foundational cases and their wider implications
